The last three were exceptionally strange. Living through them, I didn’t have the words to describe everything that was changing, but I knew the pandemic was pivotal in our history. So I made film photographs to capture the expressions and thoughts surrounding the time. This project started as a way for me to leave the house during lockdown — to photograph signs while ordinary life was unordinary — while people were disconnected from each other. And like any photography projects, Signs From the Pandemic evolved. For three years I made photographs of indications that were personally affecting me and publicly affecting everyone. I hope people will see these photographs and reflect. Warning: book contains profanity from reality.
